Q: What does the Lifetime Repair Guarantee cover?

A: Huber Collision Center offers a Lifetime Repair Guarantee that covers our workmanship. It is non-transferable and all repairs must be made at Huber Collision Center.

Q: Do you repair all makes and models of vehicles?

A: Yes. Throughout our decades-long history serving the Fredericksburg region, we have always repaired all makes and models of vehicles and done it with excellence. We made a six-figure investment in training and equipment to become a Mercedes-Benz Certified Collision Center because of our commitment to providing the best care possible for vehicle owners in our region. This investment is evidence of our commitment to excellence and to providing first-class care for every make and model of vehicle. It also is evidence of our goal to continually look for ways to improve so that we excel in serving our guests.

Q: I have just been involved in an accident…what should I do now and what do I need to know?
A: We have included a checklist of things that you should do as soon as possible following an accident. You can use that as a starting point. When involved in an accident, and you are unsure of where to go, do not hesitate to call your insurance company and ask them to have their agent and/or appraiser meet you at Huber Collision Center.

Be assured and confident that all proper insurance procedures are followed, from the appraisal to the repair and to the choice of parts and materials used.

Q: I want to be sure that I get the appropriate service from my insurance provider to see that my investment is repaired correctly, What should I expect from the insurance company and what should I do to protect my investment?
A: You need to contact your insurance carrier as soon as possible and make the vehicle available to an insurance company agent or representative. You are permitted to have the vehicle towed directly to a facility of your choice as long as the insurance company can inspect the vehicle. You must also be ready to provide the insurance company all the details of the accident including other vehicles, drivers, drivers insurance, reporting officer’s info, etc. You can use our checklist of the things that you’ll need to be ready to provide.

Insurance companies are generally required to:

  • Inspect the damaged vehicle and make a good faith offer within six business days after receiving notification of the loss, provided that your car is available for inspection. (A good faith offer is one that can be backed up with the name of a repair shop that will perform the repairs at the insurer’s offer.)
  • Promptly give you or your authorized representative a detailed written estimate of the cost of repairs. Identify, but only at your request (unless the claim is solely for glass breakage), a conveniently located auto repair shop that will repair your car at the insurance company’s estimated cost of repair and give you a written guarantee, backed by your insurer, of the work performed.
  • Pay the actual cash value (retail value plus sales tax), which is subject to depreciation and applicable deductions, if your car is a total loss because it was stolen or damaged beyond repair, or replace it with a substantially similar car, in accordance with governing regulatory standards.
  • Make payment within five (5) business days after you and the insurer have agreed upon a settlement.
  • If your car is stolen, reimburse you for your car rental expenses up to the amount stated in the policy (some auto insurers issue a policy with optional rental car reimbursement coverage, which also pays for such expenses when your car cannot be operated during a covered collision loss).
  • Furnish you with a written explanation of the reasons for delay if your claim has not been settled within 30 days after the date you notified the insurer of the loss.

Q: I’m afraid that my frame is bent. If it is, should I sell my car after the repairs are done? I’ve been told that if the chassis is bent, that the car will never be the same again.
A: To begin with, your vehicle may have a chassis (frame) or it may be of Unibody construction. However, as far as you are concerned, no matter which it is, the answer is simple. If you choose a quality repair facility that has the proper, up-to-date equipment (a Unibody bench, for example) to repair your vehicle, neither you nor anyone else will ever be able to tell the vehicle had ever been damaged. And as for that old wives’ tale, of course your car will be just as good after the repair as before. But remember, the quality of the repair comes from the quality of the people who do that repair.

Q: Is my car going to have two different shades of color because you’re only painting the areas that have been damaged instead of the whole car?
A: Absolutely not! At Huber Collision Center we say with confidence that your car will look as if it had never been involved in an accident because at Huber Collision Center we are equipped with a fully computerized paint mixing system to assure you of perfect color matching which makes exotic colors as easy to match as standard factory shades.

Q: How soon after my vehicle is repaired and painted can I wash and wax it?
A: The rule we have at Huber Collision Center is that a car should not go through a car wash for at least 2 weeks. You may, however, wash it by hand at any time.

Q: My car looks great! Are there ways I can keep it looking this way?
A: There are many things that you can do to preserve the appearance and value of your car. We have compiled some car care tips to assist you in maintaining your vehicle’s appearance.

  • WASHING: Huber Collision Center recommends that you hand wash your car whenever possible. If you must take the car to a car wash we recommend one of the “brushless” varieties to avoid damaging your car’s finish. When washing the car in the winter months, be sure to rinse the undercarriage to remove any road salts.
  • WAXING: Your vehicle should be waxed once a month. Waxing adds a protective layer to the paint that protects it against acid rain, bird droppings and most foreign substances as well as helping to guard the finish against fading.
  • WINTER TIPS: Windshield care – make sure to always use windshield washer fluid in your vehicle’s washer system. NEVER use plain water! That’s not because it will freeze in the winter but, more importantly, because it DOES NOT CONTAIN the proper solvents to cut through the grease and salt residue kicked up by the cars in front of you. SALT RESIDUE- during snow season the Number 1 rule for your vehicle’s finish and underbody is to ALWAYS REMOVE THE SALT RESIDUE FROM YOUR VEHICLE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Salt will destroy your finish and eventually rot your undercarriage!
